Well it looks like the popular press is catching up to the Handleman Post. As I blogged in October, the Tesla fires are a drop in the bucket compared to other car companies. Finally, in response to a recent Musk interview, the press is beginning to pick up on the fact that these fires are way overblown. Forbes and Treehugger are starting to roll out the numbers. Even after their third car fire Tesla still only accounts of 0.0015% of car fires and no fatalities so they are doing pretty well. Its also worth noting that there is no indication the batteries can explode, not so with a gasoline powered car in a fire.
